Housing stock is mixed, but a lot of the newer hobby-farm homes I see out here are slab-on-ground rather than stumped, which shifts where I focus my attention. There's no exposed subfloor timber to check, so the slab edge itself — and anything built up against it — becomes the main point of interest.
The garden bed problem
This is the issue I run into most often on a Nunderi slab home: a garden bed, built up over the years, sitting higher than the original ground level against the wall. That mound quietly buries the slab's damp-proof course and weep holes, the very things designed to keep the wall cavity dry and visible for inspection, and hands termites a hidden, concealed path straight in. It's rarely deliberate — it just accumulates a wheelbarrow load at a time.
The fix is usually simple: pull the bed back down below the weep holes and keep it there, rather than a major structural job.
