Flying termites or flying ants?
Winged insects around lights or windows may be termite reproductives, flying ants or another insect. Appearance can provide clues, but may not establish whether the building is affected.
Ant clues
A pinched waist, elbowed antennae and unequal wing pairs point toward a winged ant.
Collect the context
Photograph the insect, wings and where they accumulated; keep a specimen without spraying the building.
What it cannot prove
An insect identification alone does not map concealed building activity.
